An apparatus and a method for modulating a spatial light are provided to use no liquid crystal and complicated circuits, simplify the manufacture of the apparatus, and facilitate the measure of an optical image. A light refracting panel(30) contains a light refracting material. A light source unit includes a plurality of lights(10,20) having mutual interference, wherein the light source unit forms a light refracting grating on the light refracting panel. A polarizing divider(60) detects the light including a predetermined image, of which a wavelength is converted through the light refracting panel. The image including the predetermined image mutually interferes with the plurality of lights.
