The hydrogen reservoir (1) has a high-pressure tank (2) which can be cooled by a cooling device to a temperature which lies between the ebullition temperature (at normal pressure) of liquid hydrogen and approximately the ebullition temperature (at normal pressure) of liquid nitrogen, and a physically absorbing carbon-based material (6) is located in the high-pressure tank. The cooling device is operable on the basis of liquid nitrogen. An independent claim is included for a method for the storing of hydrogen in the aforesaid reservoir.
