A data processor in a base module (1) is connected to a transceiver, signaling device and power supply. In each of several monitoring modules (2), a further data processor is connected to a second transceiver and power supply. Base- and monitoring modules form a wireless network with synchronized processors. An operating unit connected with the data processing system enables adjustment of transceiver transmission powers. Alternatively, a set transmission power is used. On start-up, the base module data processor connects with the monitoring module and stores its identification code, a wireless data packet, for later comparison. The connection is such that data packets are sent at spaced intervals. Data packet reception and comparison are synchronized in the base processor. Should one or more data packets exhibit variation, the signaling device is connected to the base processor. Repeated comparisons and quality assessment may be made against a threshold, before connecting the signaling device. A signal is assigned to the identification code via the first data processing system. The signaling unit produces one or more of an audible, optical or vibration signal. Arrangements controlling transmission power are further detailed. Base and/or monitoring modules have a detachable fastening mechanism. They are optionally in the form of flat, conical-section or polygonal bodies. The first data processing system in the base module has a GSM and/or a GPS module (global systems for mobile communications or positioning).
