The method involves coding traffic information to traffic message (3), and transmitting the message to a set of receivers (1) by a radio transmitter (9). The message is decoded in the receivers, and two escape routes are independently computed to an original computed route by a navigation system (5) depending on the respective message. Additional information such as driving route, time of travel, points of interest along the escape routes is determined by the navigation system, and the computed escape routes are outputted audibly or visually in the receiver side. An independent claim is also included for a device for implementing a road user navigating method.
