Device for measuring the geological storage compactness and for detecting hollow chambers of an advancing tunnel comprises a probe (09) located in a tunnel tubular section (06) arranged behind an advancing machine (05), a drive unit for moving the probe through an opening (10) into the ground and a measuring unit for directly or indirectly determining the resistance, pressing force and/or traveling path of the probe. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring the geological storage compactness and for detecting hollow chambers of an advancing tunnel. Preferred Features: The probe is arranged in the tunnel tubular section arranged directly behind the advancing machine. The opening is arranged in the top region of the tunnel tubular section.
