The stator has a set of pole pairs, where one of the pole pairs is formed without windings. A main phase (12) and an auxiliary phase (14) are provided in the stator and the auxiliary phase is displaced opposite to the main phase at an angle of 120 degrees. A laminated core is arranged and number of pole pairs is provided as an integral multiple of three. The core is provided with a tooth (21) per pole or a group of teeth per pole. An independent claim is also included for a synchronous motor with a stator.
