The method involves arranging and coupling a pressing unit (18) of an electromechanical brake with an electrical actuator (14) in such a manner that the pressing unit is pressed at a brake unit (12) using the actuator. An actual value of a linear acceleration of a vehicle is determined and the actuator is controlled based on the actual value of the acceleration. The actual value is adjusted to a target value of the acceleration. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling an electromechanical brake of a vehicle.
