Potassium sulfate is prepared by reacting sulfuric acid and potassium chloride at 70-110[deg]C to give potassium hydrogen sulfate as an intermediate and hydrogen chloride, reacting potassium hydrogen sulfate with an equivalent quantity of magnesium oxide or magnesium hydroxide to give magnesium sulfate, and reacting magnesium sulfate with potassium chloride and water at 35[deg]C.
