The housing has a connecting rod window (3) with a square cross section and formed by casting. The window comprises walls that are axially running with respect to a cylinder running track (1). The walls have a boundary line (4) of the cylinder running track exhibiting an angle of smaller than 10 degree. The window has another wall that runs on the boundary side of the track and has a covering line (6) of the track exhibiting an angle ranging between 43 degree and 47 degree. The walls of the window are chamfered in the angle region. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a connecting rod window in a running track of a cylinder crankshaft housing.
