The device (1) has a frame (2), and cutting devices (3) that are powered and controlled and/or regulated, and including chain saws that are arranged parallely. A moving device (4) is rotatable around axles or axes (41) and arranged approximately perpendicular to a cutting direction of the cutting devices. The moving device is powered and is controllable and/or regulatable. The moving device guides a wood (H) e.g. firewood, by the cutting devices. The frame has a positioning base (21) and/or a wheel for transporting and positioning the device (1). An independent claim is also included for a method of sawing a wood into sections as firewood.
