Steel alloy for the manufacture of plastic forms and process for the manufacture of medium and large-sized plastic forms

Manufacture of steel blocks and plates with an alloy for the manufacture of plastic forms of hardness at least 280 HB. The elements in the alloy (composition in % Wt.) are: C, 0.20 - 0.70; Si, 0.2 - 1.50; Mn, 0.50 - 2.50; V, 0.05 - 0.20; and/or Nb, 0.01 - 0.20; Ti, less than 0.10; N2 less than 0.05; S, less than 0.10. The residue is iron and unavoidable impurities. Also claimed is a process for the manufacture of medium and large-sized plastic forms.
