The computer-assisted monitoring system for the operation of a driverless train (2), along a given stretch of track (1), has laser or radar sensors (3) to detect track-side position markers (4,5) and track position markers (6). The registered position data are compared with a geometric model stored in memory for the track section to determine if the train travel behavior is normal or abnormal.
