The device has a housing (22) and a valve unit (32) that is arranged in the housing. The valve unit works together with a valve seat lying in an area of a fuel outlet (42). A control piston (34) and a nozzle needle (36) of the valve unit are coupled with each other by a hydraulic coupler (92). The coupler includes a coupling chamber that is limited by a sleeve (88) guided on the piston. A guiding unit (70) guides a fluid outlet (77) of the piston. The fluid outlet is provided in a part of the guiding area of the guiding unit or complementary area of the part of the valve unit.
