The engine has a generator cylinder (5) with a cylinder piston (8), and operating cylinders (3, 4) with operating pistons (6, 7), spill valves (23, 24) and inlet and outlet valves (70, 71, 32, 33). The pistons are connected with a crankshaft (9) by drive rods (14, 15, 16). A fuel supply system has a double-walled evaporation chamber that includes injection nozzles, where a gaseous mixture of water and hydrogen is burnt with a catalyzer. Reaction products of combustion in an exhaust cycle of the cylinder are diverted from the cylinder (5) and are discharged into the cylinder (3). An independent claim is also included for a two-stage method for reduction of hydrogen from water.
