The method involves transferring two auxiliary variables (101, 102) to two registers (104, 105) of a coprocessor (103) e.g. crypto-coprocessor, respectively. Two commands are assigned to output variables based on value of bits, and the output variables are transferred to a command register of the coprocessor. The auxiliary variables are outputted, and a result of a mathematical operation is determined from the two auxiliary variables. Updated auxiliary variables in the coprocessor are determined.
