Method for increasing the catalytic activity and the n/iso-selectivity for the hydroformylation of olefins with transition metal-phosphite-complex-catalysts in homogeneous systems, comprises carrying out a catalytic C-C bond formation reaction in a polar or apolar single phase solvent mixture in the presence of chiral and achiral phosphites and diphosphites with subgroup element at 120-250[deg]C, where the amount of transition metal/phosphite-ratio in the complex catalyst is 1:0.5-1:10.
