The deflector (1) has an air-permeable surface unit (2) that is partially surrounded by a frame unit (3) and running above a windshield (4) transverse to a flow direction. The surface unit is directly attached with a lower border area in a body groove in a functional condition of the deflector, where the body groove adjoins to a narrow side of the windshield. An air intake plane of the deflector that lies between the lower border area and an upper border area of the surface unit widely extends perpendicular to a plane of the windshield. The surface unit is made of plastic or metal.
