Fluid distribution element for fuel cells including a nonpermeable element, with a main surface pointing to (sic) a membrane electrode arrangement (MEA) where one or more regions of the main surface is coated with a super-hydrophilic corrosion resistant layer which includes a fluoropolymer. The main surface has one or more streaming channels for transport of a gas or liquid to and from the MEA. Independent claims are also included for the following: (i) the production of the above fluid distribution element involving a PTFE polymer; and (ii) a fuel cell with an MEA membrane in which the PTFE layer is modified and porous.
