The method involves receiving a request from a source or application through a frequent subtree response module. A subtree generation module is configured to acquire a global prefix tree (GPT) with a set of traversal paths, where each traversal path represents a set of frequently accessed subtrees. A response is transmitted with the global prefix tree to the source. An augmented prefix tree (APT) is generated according to acquired data streams. The GPT is generated in response to a set of data streams comprising accessed nodes of a traversed theoretical tree. An independent claim is also included for a system for discovering frequently accessed subtrees.
