The scanner (2) is integrated in a device of a keyboard (1) of a personal computer (PC) and is attached as a mobile unit at the PC. A local software modifies information obtained by scanning the finger in an encoded database. The information is transferred and adjusted through communication over the Internet based on Internet portal with web server at a biometric server for comparison with stored biometric data in the biometric database. An online payment solution is realized through interaction with a client system e.g. online host, online-payment server, credit card server and bank server. The scanner is integrated in the device and attached at the PC for configuring a safe and password dependent communication in networks e.g. Internet, local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) and wireless networks.
