In a knitting machine with bar(s) (1, 2, 3) connected to laying needle(s) via a holder, where the free end of the needle projects over the outer contour of the bar and is displaceable by a drive cooperating with the holder, at least one rotation point for tiltable mounting, between the holder and the needle end, divides the overall power transfer into holder-side and needle-side partial regions. A knitting machine has at least one bar (1, 2, 3) (specifically laying bar), each with laying needle(s) connected to the bar via a holder. The free end of the needle projects over the outer contour of the bar in the longitudinal side region; and is displaceable along an axis parallel to the longitudinal part of the bar around at least one needle division by a drive cooperating with the holder. The novel feature is that at least one rotation point for tiltable mounting, between the holder and the needle end, divides the overall power transfer into holder-side and needle-side partial regions.
