The weapon has a beam deflection unit e.g. mirror chip (12), with a number of small mirrors, where air ionizing main beam or diverted laser beam falls on the mirrors, and reflects in a target direction. The chip focuses the laser beam and produces a focal point along the laser beam. A controller controls the chip so that the focal point (11) of the main beam between the focused target and the weapon moves toward the laser beam.
