The trowel has a stainless steel blade (1) with handle (2) attached by a stainless steel fastening (3). The fastening has a niobium- or titanium-containing chromium steel plating in the area where it is welded to the blade. For a brick-laying trowel the angle of the handle is made from niobium or titanium containing steel and for a smoothing trowel the welding bolts are made from this steel.
