The system for producing two diametrically opposed forces comprises two scales. A closed tank (3) of liquid (4) is mounted on one set of scales (1). It contains a float (5) which is fixed to its base, but floats up to strike the tank lid when released. A set of weights (6) is held in a column above a second set of scales (2) and is released so that it strikes them at the same time that the float strikes the tank lid.
