The pedal booster comprises a fixed metal housing (1) and a drive housing (3) fixedly connected to a drive or chain wheel (2) and containing permanent magnets (4) embedded in non-magnetic plastics mass (5). An axially displaceable tubular housing (7) is seated on the crankshaft (9) with permanent magnets (8) attached inclined so that when the pedal crank is actuated the magnets move to stand co-polar opposite one another whereby the repellent magnetic force intensifies the pedal movement. The crank pressure of the return spring (11) can be adjusted through an adjuster screw (11).
