The device has two flanges (10, 12) defining a reception passage for a steering column (4) and each comprising an oblong hole (30). Flanges locking unit (16) comprises a movable cam (32) and a cam follower formed by the flange (12). The came (32) has, on its face oriented with a side of the flange (12), two diametrally opposite projections. The oblong hole of the flange (12) has a profile complementary to that of the projections. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle comprising a steering column assembly with a steering column locking device.
