The method involves converting a point to point session into a session conforming to a dynamic host configuration protocol implemented in intermediary network equipment (7) e.g. digital subscriber line access multiplexer. The session conversion involves sending an establishment message of the latter session upon reception of another establishment message of the former session by the equipment, where the former message is a message for providing/requesting parameters of the latter session. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program comprising program code instructions for executing a service accessing method (2) a system for accessing a service by a client through a network (3) an intermediary equipment of a network permitting an access to a service by a client.
