The method involves initializing a motion detector, amplifying and filtering a signal at the output of an infrared sensor and carrying out a detection phase after the initialization step. A phase of inhibition of a detection signal is determined during the initialization step. A duration of the detection signal is determined by a lighting device controlling and commanding unit e.g. microcontroller, from an operating voltage and is lower than a maximum duration of a phase of the charging capacitors. An independent claim is also included for a device for implementing a method for detecting start-up for motion detector.
