The method involves examining transversal rows of egg on a conveyor (2) in two successive cycles by lighting places in different illumination doses using a light source and by not lighting, in one stage, of the places which, in another stage, do not present a state provoking blooming of charge coupled device detectors during the former stage. The illumination dose applied to each stage is adjusted by variation of exposure time at a determined luminous power. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an optoelectronic system for an egg candling installation, comprising a conveyor (2) an egg candling installation (3) a device for marking an object e.g. egg, present in an egg crate grid.
