PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that power consumptions can be calculated only by frames with conventional technique for estimating the power consumption of a spontaneous light emission type display device.;SOLUTION: Information on line electric power that spontaneous light emitting elements of one horizontal line corresponding to a display position of a sequentially input video signal consumes for a one-horizontal-line period is calculated based upon the video signal. A horizontal line position in an illumination state in each horizontal line period and a horizontal line position in a non-illumination state are monitored based upon phase information on a duty pulse signal which is driven and scanned in line sequence in a vertical direction, the duty pulse signal defining an illumination period and a non-illumination period in a one-frame period. In every horizontal line period, only line electric power information on all horizontal line positions in an illumination state is selectively added to calculate information on panel electric power that a display panel consumes in the horizontal line period.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
