PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating the creep characteristics of optical fiber jackets, enabling the creep characteristics of optical fiber jackets to be accurately evaluated. SOLUTION: The method of this invention is to measure longitudinal variation in distortion of an optical fiber 1 in a state that the optical fiber 1 is wound around the body of a bobbin 2 and then to calculate the creep of the jacket for the optical fiber 1 based on the formula (Rb+Rf)×ε/Rf (wherein, ε is a variation in distortion; Rf is the radius of an optical fiber; Rb is the radius of a bobbin body).
