PSOLUTION: In picking up a motion picture and recording or reproducing the motion picture, a discrimination figure displaying the present operation status of a recording-reproducing apparatus is displayed on the center of a predetermined operation-content-viewing region, a plurality of discrimination figures as guiding signs to which the kinds of recording or reproducing operations are assigned are displayed around the discrimination figure displaying the present operation status, the recording-reproducing unit executes an operation corresponding to a selected special discrimination figure when the special discrimination figure is selected from among the discrimination figures as guiding signs, the selected discrimination figure is moved to the center of the operation-content-viewing region as a discrimination figure displaying the present operation status, and the discrimination figure displayed on the center of the operation-content-viewing region is moved in the same moving direction as the moving direction where the selected discrimation figure has moved.
