PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a zirconia sol by which hydrolysis reaction can efficiently be advanced at a low cost, and the subsequent washing stage can be simplified only by adding a simple stage, and to provide a method of producing zirconia fine powder using the same method.;SOLUTION: In the method of producing a zirconia sol wherein an aqueous solution comprising zirconium oxychloride and/or zirconium chloride is heated and is hydrolyzed, evaporated components from the aqueous solution are exhausted to the outside of the system, and further, the aqueous solution is replenished with water. The zirconia sol obtained thereby is dried, calcined and pulverized to obtain the fine powder of zirconia or partially stabilized zirconia.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
