PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To economically produce a substituted indenyl-substituted fluorenyl compound cross-linked with a substituted diphenylmethylene. ;SOLUTION: A substituted transition metal arene compound having a group 6, 7 or 8 transition metal in the periodic table, coordinated to the benzo ring of a compound represented by formula (2) (R1s are each independently hydrogen atom, a halogen or a 1-20C hydrocarbon group, a silicon-containing hydrocarbon group, a nitrogen-containing hydrocarbon group or an oxygen-containing hydrocarbon group; and R3s are each independently hydrogen atom, a halogen or a 1-20C hydrocarbon group, a silicon-containing hydrocarbon group, a nitrogen- containing hydrocarbon group or an oxygen-containing hydrocarbon group) is reacted with a substituted fluorenyl compound represented by formula (3) (R2s are each independently hydrogen atom, a halogen or a 1-20C hydrocarbon group, a silicon-containing hydrocarbon group, a nitrogen-containing hydrocarbon group or an oxygen-containing hydrocarbon group; and M1 is an alkali metal) to provide the objective fluorenyl compound.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
