PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deposit thermally coating of Y2O3 on a base material surface by overcoming the fact that all of the conventional Y2O3 thermally sprayed coatings are restricted to black.;SOLUTION: The surface of the base material is coated with the black thermally sprayed coating of the Y2O3 directly or via an under coat or an intermediate layer, and thus the thermal characteristics of the coating is improved and the damage resistance performance is enhanced due to the higher hardness. The black thermally sprayed coating of the Y2O3 can be manufactured by using a white Y2O3 powder material and subjecting the material to plasma thermal spraying in an inert gaseous atmosphere not substantially containing oxygen or depositing the white thermally sprayed coating of the Y2O3, then irradiating the coating with an electron beam or a laser beam, thereby melting and heating a portion of the white coating to blacken the same.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
