A simple and safe method for removing alkali metals from soot-like substances, and using a certain organic solvent as a separating agent to increase the content of alkali metal-encapsulated fullerenes in advance makes it highly pure. A method for purifying and manufacturing is provided. The soot-like substance generated by the plasma method or the arc discharge method is immersed in an aqueous solvent and stirred (S100) to remove the alkali metal and its compound that have not reacted with the fullerenes and collect them as a residue. The residue is immersed in a separating agent such as toluene (S101) and stirred (S102). Then, centrifugation or the like is performed to separate the solution and the residue (S103). By repeatedly performing steps S101 to S103 on the residue, the content of the alkali metal-encapsulated fullerenes in the residue is increased in advance. By subjecting the residue with a high content of alkali metal-encapsulated fullerenes to liquid chromatography (S107), it is possible to purify and produce alkali metal-encapsulated fullerenes with high purity without complicated operations. ..
