PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting site diversity switching by which whether or not site switching is operated at specified timing on a broadcast transmitting side by using a digital satellite broadcasting receiver and to provide a satellite broadcasting receiver having a site diversity switching detecting function. SOLUTION: The number of superframes is counted from the output starting time of a transmission switching signal and, when it is detected that at least one of a frame status signal indicating that a frame synchronizing pattern is continuously detected, a carrier reproduction status signal indicating that carrier reproduction is normally performed, or a TMCC status signal indicating that the number of error bits in TMCC information is smaller than a predetermined number ceases during the counting period of the sixteenth super-frame in the course of counting the number of super-frames, a site diversity switching detecting signal is outputted. Therefore, whether or not site switching is operated at the specified timing on the broadcast transmitting side can be detected from the site diversity switching detecting signal on the digital satellite broadcasting receiver side.
