Process for the removal of heavy metals from effluents of industrial batteries to stop vehicles: the use of chitosan obtained from pupae of the silkworm as absorbent of low cost.A new method for the treatment of effluents generated from processing of batteries for vehicles for specialized industries is being explored, using columns packed with chitosan, produced from the pupae of the silkworm as an adsorbent of low cost.The procedure consists of passing the effluent volumes by column packed with the adsorbent, and analyze the specific quantities of metals that are retained in the same. 50 mg of adsorbent used is placed inside of the column after previously prepared by observing the characteristics specified for such uses.With a flow of 1 ml minu00ac - 1u00ac, the effluent was passed through the column being collected aliquots of 15 ml each at the lower part of the same. The concentrations of the metals (pbu00ac 2 + N 2 + N and cuu00ac in aqueous samples were determined by cathodic stripping voltammetry of square wave. The concentrations of feu00ac + 3u00ac was determined by UV Vis spectrophotometry.Was not detected cdu00ac 2 + N and nu00ac I2 + N in the samples of the effluent.
