A filter comprises a non-woven material (28) treated with an antimicrobial agent. A filter for eliminating legionella pneumophila in any installation where there is a risk of legionella pneumophila proliferation comprises a non-woven material with chopped fibers and/or monofilaments which has been treated with antimicrobial compounds. The non-woven fibres can comprise optionally modified natural polymers, synthetic polymers, glass, carbon or other fibrous materials, including bicomponent or multicomponent fibers. An independent claim is also included for a second filter.
