The hydroxyacyl-n-phenylalkanoic acid or its salts producing method involves developing a recombinant bacterium of Pseudomonas putida that inhibits the beta-oxidation metabolic pathway so that polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are accumulated intracellularly. A gene coding for the depolymerase enzyme responsible for the mobilization of PHAs in the bacterium and release of 3-hydroxyacyl-n-phenylalkanoic acid in a culture medium is also overexpressed.
