The present invention provides improved methods of producing platinumcompounds, which are very suitable for producing labelledsubstances, which can be used to detect specific molecules of interest. Theplatinum coordination compounds have two reactive groups ofwhich one is replaced by a label and the other one can be replaced by asubstance to be labelled. Production of labelled substances is verymuch improved by selection of the right starting materials and producing theright intermediates. The efficiency of labelling is very muchimproved, thereby enabling the production of labelling kits which are also apart of the present invention.
