The present invention relates to a method for producing conjugated fatty acids or fatty acid derivatives by isomerising the non-conjugated fatty acids or non-conjugated fatty acid derivatives, the non-conjugated fatty acid and/or the non-conjugated fatty acid derivative being treated with at least one supported silver catalyst and the resultant reaction product being isolated, the supported silver catalyst, before this is brought into contact with the non-conjugated fatty acid or the non-conjugated fatty acid derivative, having been activated with hydrogen and/or the reaction of the non-conjugated fatty acid and/or the non-conjugated fatty acid derivative being performed at least in a phase in the presence of hydrogen.
