An article 1 for wearing over an arm of a user for imitating a tattoo on skin is disclosed. The article (1) comprises a body of sheet material with some elasticity that is formable into a sleeve (3) that has an internal passage and open ends (5, 7) at each end thereof. The sleeve (3) is capable of being pulled over a user's arm (17) and is sized so that it is stretched when it is pulled over a user's arm (17) so that it clings to the arm with a taut and skin tight fit. The sleeve (3) has an image of a tattoo (15) marked up on the sleeve (3) that is displayed when viewing the outer surface thereof. The image of a tattoo (15) includes tribal style markings and a name, and/or a logo, and/or a picture or a device in combination with the tribal style markings. The name and logo may be that of a sports team and the article may be supplied as sports merchandise for the team. The sleeve (3) includes a first elastic band around one end (5) of the sleeve (3) and a second elastic band around the other end of the sleeve (3). The bands help to keep the sheet material stretched out and taut. The sheet elastic material may be formed from a woven sheer material such that openings, e.g. large openings, are defined between adjacent strands when the sheet material is stretched and the material is transparent to some extent.
