A method for designing a self-reason, self-reaction and self-activation 3D virtual object, and an operation method thereof are provided to realize universality and reusability without requiring new modeling according to each 3D application field by modeling various real objects to the 3D virtual object and embedding response information for various conditions in the modeled 3D virtual object. A smart object(110) is the 3D virtual object capable of reasoning, reacting, and activating like the real object. A smart object modeler(120) models and generates the smart object. A driving engine(130) simulates action or a virtual environment of the smart object. An agent(140) reduces a load to be processed by the driving engine. Information for designing the smart object includes object attribute, object action, reaction rule, environment, and interaction information. The agent comprises an environment object setting the condition of the environment in which the smart card object is performed, a reaction agent setting the reaction rule of the smart object, and an interaction object setting the interaction of the smart object.
