ACTIVE REFLECTIVE POLARIZER AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY APPARATUS EMPLOYING THE SAME

An active reflective polarizer and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) apparatus employing the same are provided to reflect light reflected from the active reflective polarizer to a liquid panel again by positioning a reflection plate at a lower part of a backlight unit. An active reflective polarizer(20) includes a magnetic layer(22) which is magnetized in a first direction. The magnetic layer reflects light having a magnetic filed component parallel to the first direction and transmits light having a magnetic field component vertical to the first direction. The magnetic layer is formed by coating and curing a transparent medium being in a paste state on a transparent substrate(21). The transparent medium contains magnetic material. The magnetic layer has a thickness larger than the magnetic attenuation length of the magnetic material.
