A variable time delay apparatus in an optical repeater of time division duplexing(TDD) type is provided to effectively fits the time sync between wireless service signals transmitted and received between the antenna of a base station and each remote controllers in a multi-hop topology. A variable time delay apparatus supporting the multi-hop topology comprises the followings: A main doner(40) receiving an RF(Radio Frequency) signal of downstream data from a upper layer, converting the RF signal into an optical signal, and then transmitting the optical signal to a remote controller(42) through an optical fiber or converting the optical signal of upstream data inputted from the remote controller into an RF signal, and then transmitting the RF signal to the upper layer: and the remote controller receiving a downstream data optical signal to convert it into an RF signal, branching the RF signal to irradiate one of the branched signals to the terminal through the antenna and to convert the other into an optical signal.
