An MIH terminal and an MIH server, and a VHO method therefor are provided to enable the MIH server to acquire temporary channel information from a second communication network system and transmit the temporary channel information to the MIH terminal and enable the MIH terminal to perform VHO holding the connection of a temporary channel with a second communication network when the MIH terminal and the MIH server perform VHO from a first communication network to a second communication network, thereby minimizing a packet loss occurring during the VHO to maintain the quality of communication services constantly. A VHO(Vertical Handover) method for an MIH(Media Independent Handover) server comprises the following steps of: searching for a second communication network suitable for VHO requested from an MIH terminal, which is connected to a first communication network, and transmitting the MIH terminal information of the MIH terminal to a second communication network system associated with the second communication network(311~313); and receiving temporary channel information associated with a temporary channel for connection to the second communication network from the second communication network system, which receives the MIH terminal information, and transmitting the temporary channel information to the MIH terminal to control the connection of the temporary channel between the MIH terminal and the second communication network system(314~316).
