A method for evaluating population hazard by using risk information is provided to evaluate emission characteristic of the radioactive material for each of the characteristics of a serious accident of emitting a large quantity of radioactive material when the serious accident occurs in a nuclear power station to thereby estimate damage caused by the emission of the radioactive material. Serious accidents are re-classified according to storage building accident type and the frequency and characteristic of the serious accidents described in a probabilistic stability analysis report of a nuclear plant(1). The initial mass of a radioactive material and the quantity of emission of the radioactive material for each accident are obtained(2). Data about characteristics of nuclear plant site, population distribution and weather are collected(3). Population hazard is evaluated(4) and the evaluation result is classified into population dose, early fatality, and cancer fatality(5). The population hazard is multiplied by the frequency of the serious accidents to reflect risk information according to the result of population hazard evaluation. The result of population hazard evaluation using the risk information is utilized(7).
