METHOD FOR EXTRACTION OF SQUALENE OR SQUALANE USING CYCLODEXTRIN AND COSMETIC COMPOSITION CONTAINING SQUALENE OR SQUALANE-CYCLODEXTRIN INCLUSION COMPLEX PREPARED THEREBY

A method for extraction of squalene or squalane by using cyclodextrin is provided to simplify the extraction procedure and reduce the purification costs and inhibit environmental pollution by reducing the amount of organic solvents used. A squalene or squalane-cyclodextrin inclusion complex is also provided to improve storage, applications, water solubility and dispersion, so that it is applicable to cosmetic composition. A method for extraction of squalene or squalane comprises the steps of: (1) adding squalene or squalane-containing materials or processed products into the solution of cyclodextrin, its derivative or polymer and reacting them for 0.5-36 hours to form a squalene or squalane-cyclodextrin inclusion complex; (2) adding a coagulating agent such as CaCl2, CaSO4, MgCl2, MgSO4 or organic or inorganic acid into the solution containing the squalene or squalane-cyclodextrin inclusion complex and separating the complex from the solution; and (3) optionally drying the separated squalene or squalane-cyclodextrin inclusion complex or reverse-extracting the squalene or squalane from the dried complex. Further, the 0.05-3%(w/v) of coagulating agent is added into the whole solution.
