The azimuth brake has brake blocks connected with a nacelle and a tower of a wind power station, and devices for admission of braking power. The azimuth brake has expansion element (1) expanded by spatial heating. The expansion element is used for actuation or release of the brake and which is provided with a heating device. The azimuth brake has spring or another power generator, used to close the brake in a static closed condition.
